Rats 3, Me 1
SUMMARY: Rodents *again* dagnabbit.
Yesterday, 4 spring traps baited with peanut butter in the attic.
Today, one dead rat in one trap, the other three looking untouched--except there's no more peanut butter. How do they DO that?
Dogs pay absolutely no attention when there are rat noises in the ceiling. Not that they could do anything about it--but Remington would've been faaaaahscinated.

Excellent question ("How do the DO that?"). Father used to set traps with half a strip of (raw) bacon wrapped around a walnut half. He'd come back the next day and find the bait gone and the trap tripped... or not... but usually sans rodent. Wily creatures, they.
Just be thankful they haven't taken up the tuba: http://wondermark.com/585/
Tuba, that would be just lovely, wouldn't it. Or unicycle, riding around in the ceiling playing the tuba.
I'm pretty sure the ones in my attic space when I was renting the duplex had a crane. They were stealing the gigantic Milk Bones stored in the garage and hoisting them into the far corner of the attic. One night the crane toppled and nearly came through the ceiling!
